Why the FuturoLEAF research is important?

For a researcher it is always important to realise why our work is important. We often focus on our work so much that sometimes we lose the big picture. The devil is really in the details when you do research, yet the justification for the work is in the greater good. In FuturoLEAF, the big picture is really the everyday world we live in; our dependence on fossil based materials, fuels, and chemicals and the disastrous state of our globe due to that dependence – vast excess of CO₂ entering the atmosphere causing global warming. The shift in the paradigm is necessary and we, the FuturoLEAF consortium, believe that our research towards a greener and more efficient production of materials, chemicals, and fuels plays a key role in the success of that shift.
